Business Model: Offshore Resource Management System |
|
|
|
With the recent release of IssueBridge Version 3.1, a new usage model has risen to the top to support the infrastructure of the global workforce. IssueBridge provides a strong set of management tools and utilities to support a development model leveraging the use of offshore resources. Read on to see your organization can leverage IssueBridge Version 3.1 as an ORMS.
What is an ORMS?
An ORMS is an Offshore Resource Management System. IssueBridge 3.1 can help remove some of the geographically-enhanced barriers that the use of offshore resources can bring about. The sole purpose of IB 3.1 is to help streamline the communication channels between team members. Using IB 3.1 as a robust ORMS is a natural progression for a tool of this type. IB 3.1 provides a communication repository for an organization to understand why a task was undertaken, what was done during the working of that task, how long it took and how much it cost. IB 3.1 in this model can easily be adapted to help manage lower cost resources available in the offshore arena.
How can IssueBridge fit into my offshore resource model?
IssueBridge is an entirely web-based application that is available from any Internet-connected computer. IB 3.1 as an ORMS can be used as the middleware to support communication between the onshore and offshore teams. One example of how to use the ORMS consists of onshore resources entering issues and work tasks into the IB 3.1 repository and assigning these tasks to a work delegator representative of the offshore team. The delegator then has the responsibility of assigning the work to the queue of the appropriate offshore resource. Based on the open configuration of IB 3.1, different roles and permissions can be configured within the application to support you organization model.
What activity is currently taking place on my request?
IssueBridge 3.1 provides the ability to track the activity of a requested work item. From an ORMS standpoint, offshore resources can update the work history associated with a specific issue. As the work history is updated, this is reflected in the issue details screen. The onshore resource can monitor the status of the issues with regards to what activities are being performed, who is doing the work, what is resolution status of the issue, and when activity was last performed on the issue. From the IssueBridge 3.1 console, the onshore resources will have the ability to view the work history of issues and what is going on.
Who is working on my request?
IssueBridge is an advanced work queue system. As issues are worked and updated, the onshore resources will be able to access the work queue and view who issues are assigned to. Also, work history items will display how much effort is being spent during the resolution of issues and tasks. This information can also be rolled up in reports to indicate which resources are doing work and how much is being done.
What should it cost to perform this request?
IssueBridge 3.1 provides an infrastructure to estimate cost and report on actuals associated with issues and projects. Upon realization of an issue, the onshore resource can provide a man-hour estimate for what it is believed to take to resolve the request. During the life cycle of the issue resolution, this estimate can be increased or decreased as familiarity with the issue is gained. Increases or decreases in the work estimate are tracked via an audit trail within the work history of the issue. This provides a level of accountability as to who, when and why work estimates were raised or lowered. Finally, during the resolution of an issue, the worker is provided a facility to track the amount of work performed during that resolution. This data entry makes up the actuals associated with the resolution of the issue. The actual costs are computed based on the number of hours posted multiplied by the dollar amount associated with role of the worker. The roles and costs are dynamic and customizable. A robust reporting interface also provides the ability to extract, manipulate and display the estimate and actual data associated with the work performed. This information can be used to help estimate future efforts similar in nature and to assist in reconciling charges posted by offshore resources.
Why did it cost as much as it did to complete my request?
IssueBridge 3.1 provides the facilities to view within the issue history the amount of time posted during the resolution of an issue. The onshore resources can view this work history and determine who did what during the resolution. The IB 3.1 infrastructure provides the ability to associate a rate per hour with user roles. Users are associated with a specific role and rate. Upon performing work (and entering time needed to perform the work) an actual cost associated with the work history entry is computed. There is a robust reporting interface that allows the user to drill down and see what charges are being posted to the issue and what costs are being generated. This facility can help the onshore resources to understand what they are paying for during the resolution of an issue.
In Summary
IssueBridge 3.1 and its associated functionality can provide a feature-rich communications platform that facilitates the interaction between onshore and offshore resources. The issue tracking and inherent accountability for decisions and work effort has been expanded to support the relationships that exist within a geographically diverse workforce. IssueBridge 3.1 exposes a set of tools that promotes a methodical and procedural approach to the resolution of open tasks. The resolutions and associated decisions are also available for historical purposes. IssueBridge 3.1 can help you better understand how much your project has cost to date, what issues are currently outstanding within your project, who is working on them, what is the estimate to resolve the open issue, how much an issue is estimated to cost and when an issue is expected to be resolved. This information will allow you to make more informed business decisions. |
